Clinicians who work with children who have been exposed to trauma and adversity often have a treatment plan which includes an effort to help the child to digest these experiences through exposure to the adverse events, whether through a trauma focused approach to play therapy or a trauma protocol such as EMDR or a combination of these. One of the challenges is to use play therapy techniques to develop a shared experience and language for this history as the initial step toward later reprocessing. This 2-hour learning module for clinicians offers an example of using a playful story and props to guide that process in a manner that will be well tolerated by the child. This “Bowl of Light” story-based intervention is appropriate for play therapy individualized assessment and EMDR (in Phase 1).

For many who first enter the field of dissociation and trauma, there is often not a great deal of information that describes the how children, teens and young adults are utilizing dissociative strategies in their daily life.

Part 1: The first webinar will provide information on how early attachment wounds from caregivers leads to dissociation and included are actual statements by dissociative child clients and caregivers who are witnessing the dissociative episodes.

Part 2: The second webinar teaches you about dissociated parts of self with basic information on structural dissociation and understanding victim self-states, protective and perpetrator parts with case examples and how to distinguish among them.

If EMDR trained, this can be used in Preparation Phase of EMDR. You do not have to be EMDR trained to purchase the self-paced webinars.

Motivating clients to develop a future orientation is an essential process in providing a creative format for teens/adults to generate hope, a vision and reference for their future. Utilizing this intervention allows clients to dream and passionately envision their future desires and identify step by step tasks to reach their goals. This is an opportunity for the client to identify what they want, deserve and should expect in their lives. The approach includes several different creative arts and somatic opportunities for the client to have a felt sense of their future self. A future orientation is considered a Resource Development Installation (RDI) and can be utilized in phase one and two of EMDR therapy.
